GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTS

Shaping Mood with Swatch and Scheme

Student-designed abstract vector composition outlined in white with gentle drop shadowing for 3-dimensionality uses a vibrant palette of orange, red and violet with custom tints, tones, shades, and gradients. The word “CHAOS” communicates the mood inspired by the bold colors.

Students explore how color choices influence mood by selecting a specific color scheme for an original abstract composition. They create and save custom swatches, develop tints, tones, shades, and gradients, and apply their palette to overlapping vector forms divided with Pathfinder tools. Each student completes the design by choosing a descriptive word that communicates the feeling created by their colors.
